CIMIC workshop in Nairobi

As part of the African Capacity Building (ACB) SHIRBRIG is developing a project with EASBRIG to establish a start-up CIMIC kit that will enhance the rapid deployment capabilities of both SHIRBRIG and EASBRIG.

An integrated database and reporting system, referred to as CIMIC Information System (CIMIS), is a basic element of the start-up kit and will permit an efficient use of  CIMIC information.

The CIMIC start up kit project held the first workshop in Nairobi from 2nd to 6th June with the participation of Colonel Tatschl (COS), Lieutenant Colonel Pardo de Santayana (G5), Major kristoffersen (Deputy G6), external experts and the technical development support of Major Heinrich from the Austrian Army as well as two advisors from the Spanish CIMIC Battalion. The workshop was a success and it established the necessary documentation for the start-up kit and the basic structure of the Database and reporting system was created.

At the end of the workshop the future steps, needed to conclude the project, were proposed.

This CIMIC start-up kit project is a modest but significant practical SHIRBRIG contribution to UN and AU peace support operations.
