According to SHIRBRIG Annual Operating Plan 2008 a Headquarter Equipment Training Module (HQ Coy ETM) event was conducted at the United Nations Logistics Base (UNLB) in Brindisi Italy from 19-21 February 2008.  The training was attended by COMSHIRBRIG, PLANELM G4, G6, and select G1 and G3 Branch members along with a 25 member component from the designated SHIRBRIG Headquarters Company from Denmark, under the direction of Captain Mads Steffensen.

The aim of the HQ Coy ETM was to contribute to the preparation of the HQ Coy and SHIRBRIG support staff elements to operate effectively as a nucleus of a Force HQ and to permit the exchange of service support expertise and knowledge between participants.

The Objectives of the HQ Coy ETM were to exchange knowledge and practicalities of UN mission planning and preparation, to gain a better understanding of the content, role, use of the Fly Away Kit (FAK) and the Strategic Deployment Stock (SDS), within a realistic deployment timeline and to enhance operational planning.

UNLB preparation and support was outstanding.  The UNLB was heavily involved in two mission support activities during the training period, which again demonstrates their interest in working closely with SHIRBRIG, as well as their professionalism.
